Twice a year Copenhagen hosts one of the Nordic Region’s largest fashion events, namely, Copenhagen Fashion Week. According to their website “Scandinavian fashion is known for its unique take on design, which marries modern elegance to playful aesthetics and conceptions of dress.” This season was my first at Copenhagen Fashion Week. I have met friends that I’ve known already from other fashion weeks, and met many new Scandinavian and European editors and industry professionals, and fell in love with Danish modernity to the point of no return.
During Copenhagen Fashion Week the insiders of fashion industry and fashionistas converged on the Danish capital to view the Spring / Summer collections for 2017 of the crème de la crème of Danish and Scandinavian designers. Regardless of your preference for edgy dark street couture or lighter, tailored or flowy garments, CPHFW SS17 had something to offer for all.
Now that Copenhagen fashion week is over, it’s a time to reflect on what will form the lasting memories of the spring/summer 2017 shows. The fashion week had a total of 29 women’s and men’s labels showing, from established designers like Henrik Vibskov and Fonnesbech to new young student talents from the design schools – and some of the shows took place in new interesting locations across the capital.
I have attended a number of shows, events and Copenhagen’s biggest international fashion fair. Explore more information, runway images and highlights videos in earlier posts about each of the catwalk shows that I have attended and check out the video below for the full coverage of SS17 Copenhagen Fashion Week.
