Back in 2010 the influential British fashion critic Suzy Menkes confessed: “I like lala Berlin!” lala Berlin is a phenomenon. Hardly any other fashion label has succeeded in conveying the spirit of the German capital to the world in such an authentic way. The creative mastermind behind lala Berlin is Leyla Piedayesh. Time and time again she manages to reflect fleeting anarchic big-city chic in fresh new ways with her unconventional yet elegantly feminine collections. From an international perspective, the label very much epitomises the Berlin metropolis.
It is the second time lala Berlin takes part in Copenhagen Fashion Week. This season with tropical theme of Summer 2017 collection: I AM JUNGLE!, the brand picked a perfect location – Carlsberg Byen grounds in Copenhagen with two massive stone elephants and the industrial red brick walls.
To the infectious tunes of Berlin based DJane Laura Ewert, 25 urban jungle inspired looks hit the cobblestone catwalk. The fashion crowd got carried away into a world of unique knit creations, tropical kufiya prints and wild ruffles.
In this year’s Summer 17 Collection, Leyla Piedayesh was inspired by the urge to escape the big city feeling into the beautiful landscape around Berlin. Relaxed days in the nature and long summer nights outside under a crystal clear sky, provided a different perspective on the normally vibrant city, hereby creating the idea of an urban jungle.
Boho summer elements are worked into new exciting prints; collage, graphic, layered imagery of flora and fauna gives the illusion the endless depth of the jungle, with blasts of sky blue adding freshness. Inspired by the clean foliage of the jungle, colours as emerald green, white and fresh crisp tones were used as well as cognac and night blue to reminiscing the dark depths of the unknown.
